Meet Debbie
I started dancing at the age of 3 when I attended a local ballet school In Surbiton, but it was when I accompanied a friend to ballroom dancing lessons at the age of 5 that I really fell in love with dance and it quickly became a significant part of my childhood. I remember the excitement and joy of putting on my dancing shoes and stepping onto the polished dance floor. The elegant movements, the rhythm of the music, and the graceful twirls made me feel like I was in a different world.
Ballroom dancing taught me discipline, poise, and the importance of teamwork. It was not just about the dance itself, but also about the connection with my dance partner and the synchronization of our movements. The thrill of participating in dance competitions and the pride of winning trophies are memories I cherish to this day.
Having worked my way through the award system as both leader and follower, I trained to become a fully qualified teacher in both ballroom and latin and was one of the youngest people in the UK to achieve this at the age of 17. I have since also become a qualified teacher in classical sequence. Over the years I have taught at various dance schools and now run my own dance school!
